Early Morning Crash Ends in Reported Fatality in Newark

Authorities in Essex County are looking into the cause of a crash that killed one person on the street in Newark early Wednesday morning.

According to a preliminary investigation, the early morning violent crash happens near the Sussex Avenue connection to First Street just at Orange Street around 3:20 a.m. 

Police say the driver of the vehicle somehow lost control and crashed on a deep turn at the semi-roundabout. 

According to reports, the unidentified victim was rushed to University Hospital, where a pronouncement was made just before 4 a.m. 

Police have not determined the cause of the crash and The Essex County Prosector’s Office was notified of the fatal crash but told the  RLS Metro Breaking News morning crew that Newark Police would handle the incident. 

Newark Police said the crash is under an active and ongoing investigation. 

There were no other serious injuries reported.
