Early Morning Collision Kills One on US-9 in Marlboro

Officials in Monmouth County are looking into the cause of a wreck that killed a person Sunday.

According to a preliminary investigation, the early morning collision happened around 2:15 a.m.  Route 9 near Tenent Road. 

Emergency responders arrived and found the crash scene with an unconscious and unresponsive person inside the vehicle. 

The individual was transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, where doctors and the pronouncement shortly before 3 a.m. 

Police closed the highway's southbound lanes at Texas Road for the crash investigation. 

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
