Police officials in Newark placed all gas stations in the city on the lookout after a carjacker targeted a motorist then stole their vehicle near a service station in the city's lower West Ward on Tuesday morning.
It happened near the Exxon Gas station located at Central Avenue and West Market Street just before 12:55 a.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, several masked suspects exited a vehicle and took the victim's white Aura TL with a reported NJ license plate number "A90-JCU".
Police say the suspects sped away from the scene and were last seen within the East Orange City limits.
There were no physical injuries reported and the incident is under investigation.
