An off-duty West Milford police sergeant has been arrested following allegations that he assaulted two people at a local restaurant in Passaic County last month.

According to a statement released by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Thomas Connors, 39, of West Milford, was taken into custody without incident Tuesday, October 27, by members of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Public Integrity Unit in Totowa.

Authorities said the charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred around 12:30 a.m. on September 24, 2026, at Jessie’s Country Kettle in West Milford.

Investigators allege that Connors, who was off duty at the time, physically assaulted two patrons at the establishment.

Following an investigation by the prosecutor’s Public Integrity Unit, Connors was charged with two counts of simple assault, both classified as disorderly persons offenses.

If convicted, Connors faces up to six months in jail on each charge, along with possible fines, probation and other court-imposed penalties.
