Dump Truck Crashes Into Car Dealership on Route 22 in Hillside

Hillside

Hillside Police officials reported no injuries in a crash that had a truck slam into a building this evening.

According to Hillside officials, at approximately 4 pm, firefighters rushed to 56 Route 22 eastbound at the Nissan dealership for reports of a truck into the building.

Officials said firefighters were split between this job and other units out answering a fire alarm in at another location in town.

Crews arrived and safely evacuated the occupied building, then shut utilities off.

Officials said a Union County hazmat team was requested for an approximately 40-gallon fuel spill on the scene.

Hillside Police directed traffic volume began to increase on the highway.

There were no serious injuries reported and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
