Drug Raid Nets 17 at Oscar Myles Housing Complex in Newark

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that seventeen people were arrested during a series of narcotics related raids at a Newark housing complex.

Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, have been conducting a long- term investigation into narcotics activity at the Oscar Myles Housing Complex located in the central ward of Newark. .

Authorities said on Wednesday, February 1st, detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police executed several search warrants at residences in the complex.

Officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Bloomfield and Montclair police departments assisted in the raid.

In addition to the search warrants, officers executed several arrest warrants during the operation.
