Sayreville authorities are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a driver early Friday morning after a vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. near the intersection of Bordentown Avenue and Roberts Street.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and arrived to find a severely damaged vehicle that had collided with the rear of a truck.
According to preliminary information, the impact was significant, and the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not yet determined the exact cause of the crash. 
However, investigators are exploring possible contributing factors, including speed and distracted driving.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
