Driver Killed After SUV Crashes Into Tree Along Route 18 in Marlboro

A driver was killed early Sunday morning after an SUV veered off Route 18 and crashed into a tree in Marlboro, according to authorities.

Police said the crash occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 5 in the southbound lanes of Route 18 near the Route 79 interchange. 

According to investigators, a 2018 Acura MDX left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation before striking a tree.

 

The driver, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity as they await confirmation from the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.

 

The crash prompted the closure of the southbound lanes of Route 18 for approximately five hours while investigators processed the scene and cleared the wreckage.

 

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
