Driver Injured in Newark North Ward Carjacking

Police detained a person while investigating a carjacking in Newark's North Ward Tuesday evening. 

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue to investigate reports of a carjacking in progress around 8:35 p.m. 

Upon arrival, police began their search for a blur Honda Accord with a reported NJ license plate number "E54-NLG".

Police say a female suffered a minor arm injury after being dragged out of the vehicle by the suspect. 

Officers canvassed part of the city and located the car near the intersection of Branch Brook Place and Montclair Avenue shortly before midnight. They held a suspect who was reportedly inside the vehicle. 

The incident remains under investigation.
