Driver, Five Passengers Injured After Van Slams Barrier on NJ Turnpike in Newark

Six people were injured after a van lost control and crashed along the New Jersey Turnpike in Newark afternoon, according to preliminary information released by authorities.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on the southbound inner roadway near milepost 105.2. 

Early findings indicate that a Chrysler van was traveling south when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into the left concrete barrier.

 

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and assessed all occupants inside the vehicle. 

The driver and five passengers sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

 

Traffic in the area experienced disruptions as crews worked to assist the injured and clear the scene.

 

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation. Authorities have not released additional details at this time.
