Driver Crashes Car Into Tree Near Newark Firehouse

The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a tree in Newark did not suffer severe injuries in the early morning collision. 

At approximately 5:20 a.m., firefighters rushed out of the Engine 7 firehouse after hearing a loud crash on the West Market Street side of the building.

Crews found a severely damaged truck crashed head-on into a tree with the driver out of the vehicle. 

A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver traveled eastbound on West Market when he approached Hudson Street then lost control of the vehicle around the curve. 

Shortly before the collision, the vehicle took out a guard rail along the sidewalk then slammed into the tree.

It did not appear that the firehouse sustained extensive damage from the collision.
