Authorities say a downed electrical wire is to blame for a fire that left as many as 20 vehicles damaged at a Fairfield auto auction.

Crews responded to the Skyline Auto Auction on Route 46 just before 8 a.m. for a report of a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters determined that electrically charged wires from a transformer came down on several vehicles sparking the blaze.

According to Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna, approximately 20 cars were damaged.

The fire was placed under control by approximately 9 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
