An overnight shooting that connected on two victims in a section in Newark's South Ward is under investigation by authorities.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to shots fired that rang out in the 300 block of Hawthorne Avenue at approximately 10:25 p.m. where officers arrived to find two victims struck by apparent gunfire at that location.
EMS transported the pair to University Hospital where doctors treated their injuries which were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
Police taped off the area and investigated while they searched for evidence to support a motive in the attack.
There were no other injuries reported.
