Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that a fatal crash is currently under investigation following an incident on Tuesday at 4:11 p.m. in Sayreville.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a fatal crash at the intersection of Bordentown Avenue and Waterworks Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a Nissan colliding head-on with a Box Truck.

Tragically, the driver and the rear passenger, both seated on the driver's side of the Nissan, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, the front passenger and a rear passenger seated on the passenger's side of the Nissan suffered severe injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Fortunately, the occupants of the Box Truck sustained only minor injuries.

The preliminary investigation, conducted by Officer Thomas Alvah Cox of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, has revealed that the Nissan was traveling along Bordentown Avenue when it crossed over a double yellow line, resulting in the head-on collision with the Box Truck.
