Domestic Incident Results in Fatal Police-Involved Shooting in Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, N.J. –The Attorney General’s Shooting Response Task Force is conducting an investigation of a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night on Walnut Drive in Farmingdale.

According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of a domestic violence incident that involved several individuals at a residence in the 50’s block of Walnut Street.

Reports say when officers arrived, they encountered a male suspect who reportedly had a weapon at that location.

During the encounter with police, officers opened fire on the suspect according to the NJ Attorney General's Office.

The suspect sustained fatal injuries.

This investigation is being conducted pursuant to a law enacted in January 2019, Senate Bill 1036, which requires that the Attorney General’s Office conduct investigations of a person’s death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody.
