Dog Found Dead in Newark Shots Fired Incident

Newark Police officials are investigating a shots-fired incident in the city's South Ward early Saturday morning. 

Several police units responded to a  ShotSpotter device activation that alerted officials of gunfire in the vicinity of 690 Clinton Avenue near the intersection of Clinton Place around 1 a.m. 

When police arrived, they found multiple shell casings and while canvassing the area, they found a dead dog at that location. 

Police say no victims were found and the sunset fled the scene and has not been apprehended. 

The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
