The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced three men have be arrested in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking organization.
Sergio Garcia-Privado, 38, and Carlos Espinosa-Muniz, 29, both of Winslow, and Mauricio Garcia-Privado, 32, of Lindenwold, are accused of taking part in a drug trafficking organization that acquired cocaine and marijuana in North Jersey and distributed the drugs throughout the Camden County area.
Detectives arrested all three suspects on Friday following a month-long, multi-agency investigation and subsequently executed search warrants at their residences. Officers seized just under five ounces cocaine, in excess of six pounds of marijuana, approximately $13,500 cash, three firearms and three vehicles.
Sergio Garcia-Privado and Espinosa-Muniz were apprehended in Lindenwold after attempting to elude police.
Officers had attempted to stop the suspects’ vehicle in Voorhees. The suspects initially pulled over, but then sped away, striking an officer in the process.
The officer sustained minor injuries. Both men were captured after the vehicle struck a tree in Lindenwold.
Sergio Garcia-Privado and Espinosa-Muniz are charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, eluding and resisting arrest.
Additionally, Sergio Garcia-Privado was charged with possession of a weapon during a CDS offense.
His brother, Mauricio Garcia-Privado, was charged with conspiracy to distribute CDS.
The defendants were remanded to the Camden County Jail with bail set at $100,000 each.
All three suspects are alleged to be in the United States illegally and had U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers placed on them by Homeland Security Investigations.
