Dirt Bike Crash Leaves One Dead in Plainfield; No Pursuit as Alleged

Police are investigating a fatal crash that involved a dirt bike in Plainfield.

Police say at approximately 2:04 AM, Plainfield Police units responded to the 100 Block of Stelle Avenue on a report of a motorcycle accident.

Upon arrival, police located a 24-year-old male with life threatening injuries.

Police say the investigation revealed that a Plainfield resident was traveling west on Stelle Avenue while riding an off road, non street legal, dirt bike without a helmet crashed into a telephone pole.

This individual was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased according to police.

Since the incident occurred, the City has been made aware that there allegations of this crash being the result of a police involved pursuit, which is not true police said.

Detectives have obtained video footage from the area, which depict the tragic and unfortunate accident.
