DEVELOPING TOTOWA NJ: House Fire Kills Man in Totowa

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are looking into the cause of a deadly fire that broke out inside a home in Totowa early Saturday morning.

According to preliminary reports, heavy fire engulfed a two-story house located in the 200 block of Gordon Avenue just before 5:45 a.m.

Firefighters raced to the scene and found heavy flames tearing through the second floor of the wood-framed structured as crews attempted to make entry into house after learning of a trapped a 62-year-old man inside.

Firefighters were able to get inside the home and found a severely injured unidentified person, according to fire officials.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

Firefighters were able to knock the blaze down in under an hour with the cause under investigation.
