DEVELOPING SPRINGFIELD NJ: Union Police Pursuit Ends in Deadly Car Crash in Springfield; Suspect: "I have the Aids Virus"

Emergency responders are on the scene of a crash that resulted from a police pursuit a short time ago in Springfield.

There are little details available into what exactly initiated the pursuit, but according to preliminary reports, police began to follow a vehicle occupied by a suspect who reportedly assaulted a police officer in the area of Vaux Hall Road and Springfield Avenue at around 3:50 p.m.

The suspect sped away from police then crashed into a building located in the 70's block of Springfield Avenue according to reports.

The vehicle then ignited into flames trapping the driver at that location

Medics pronounced the suspect dead at the scene.

There are no reports of injured police officers at this time.

**UPDATE 4:55 pm:** Union Police pulled a car over near Vaux Hall Road when a verbal altercation between the suspect and the police officer occurred. The suspect then told the officer that he has the AIDS Virus, then attempted to bite the officer. Officers backed off; then the suspect sped away in his vehicle police said.

The suspect intentionally tried to strike the officer's female partner causing a pursuit up Springfield Avenue when the suspect's car lost control, overturned and crashed inside a building at 65 Springfield Avenue. The car burst into flames trapping the suspect.

No officers injured.
