DEVELOPING RUTHERFORD NJ: Firefighters Battle Raging Two-Alarm House Fire in Rutherford

Firefighters in Bergen County battled a raging fire that tore through a large house in Rutherford on Monday morning.

According to first reports from the scene, the two-alarm fired happened in the 100 block of Ridge Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. sending firefighters racing to the scene where they found the upper level of the two-story wood framed house engulfed in flames.

Crews beat down flames upon their arrival the made entry into the structure where crews searched for trapped and injured occupants that ultimately came back negative.

Firefighters were forced to evacuate the structure as flames intensified and began to extend through the walls and windows according to fire officials.

Massive fire was still existent as of 7:10 a.m. with the cause under investigation. Officials believe that a lightning strike caused the blaze.
