Emergency responders are on the scene investigating the findings of a body under a train in Newark's South Ward this afternoon.
Details are developing, but according to preliminary information, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officials at Norfolk Southern reported that a body was found underneath a train near Meeker and Elizabeth Avenue.
Officials said there is no confirmation that the person was struck by the train or placed there.
Medical personnel has confirmed that the unidentified person was pronounced dead and the investigation is active and ongoing.
Train traffic on the freight line has been halted for the investigation.
