Emergency responders and rescue crews recovered the body of an unidentified person from the Raritan River after the individual jumped from a Garden State Parkway Bridge Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were notified by several motorists driving on the Driscoll Bridge that a person jumped off the extension and landed in the water.
Marine units from Perth Amboy, Laurence Harbor and the Sayreville Police Department were all dispatched to the scene to assist in searching for the person.
The body was reportedly recovered near the Cornucopia Princess cruise lines and the NJ State Police crime scene unit was notified.
The incident is under investigation.
