DEVELOPING PATERSON NJ: Early Morning Two-Alarm Fire Tears Through Old Paterson Mill

Firefighters are n the scene of a fire that ignited inside a large mill in Paterson early this morning.

The two-alarm fire broke out at 28 Paterson Street just before 5 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they observed thick smoke and heavy flames coming from the old mill.

Crews on the scene contacted Passaic County Hazmat crews after they located potentially dangerous chemical storage containers in the rear of the structure according to preliminary reports.

Crews were able to get the blaze under control just before 6 a.m. with a search of the structure indicating no trapped or injured occupants inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Paterson Fire officials.
