Newark utility crews are rushing to the scene of a water main break that is beginning to flood several streets and overflowing sewer systems in a section of the city's South Ward.

Officials say the main broke at approximately 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Hedden Terrace.
Water is lifting a sidewalk and streaming several blocks down to Bergen near Newark Police headquarters.
Expect some traffic detours as crews attempt to cap the break and make repairs.
Avoid the intersection, if possible.
