DEVELOPING NEWARK: Trespasser Killed by NJ Transit Train in Newark

New Jersey Transit officials are on the scene of a fatal pedestrian vs train strike that occurred this afternoon in Newark.

According to a statement released by NJ Transit officials, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Northeast Corridor Train 3154, which departed New Brunswick at 3:04 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Penn Station New York at 4:06 p.m., struck and fatally injured a trespasser as the train was pulling into Newark Penn Station.

Officials say train service is operating at this time with no delays.

The gender and age of the trespasser are unknown at this time according to officials.

Currently, there is no passenger count estimate on Train 3154 as the customers onboard were quickly accommodated by another train.

There are no injured customers and crew member onboard the impacted train.

New Jersey Transit Police are on the scene leading the investigation into this incident officials said.
