DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Stabbing at Newark South Ward Liquor Store Injures Several

There is an active investigation underway in a Newark South Ward liquor store as police look into the motive behind a stabbing incident that has several people injured at this time.

According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 500 block of Hawthorne Avenue near Leslie Street -Skyline Liquors- to investigate reports of a stabbing that occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Units arrived at the scene found as many as four people bleeding after being stabbed by an unknown assailant. All of the victims have been transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the suspects fled the scene immediately after stabbing the victims for an unspecified reason. The incident appears to have originated on the street with the victims going into the business.

There are no immediate reports of severe injuries at this time.

**NPD UPDATE 9:50 P.M.** "Four victims involved in a fight sustained lacerations and are now in stable condition at the hospital. The investigation is in its early stages."
