DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: School Bus Crash Causes Injuries in Newark's South Ward

Several children are being transported to an area hospital after a school bus that they occupied crashed this afternoon in Newark's South Ward.

The incident happened at around 3:40 p.m. in the 400 block of Clinton Place where emergency responders rushed to the scene after they received reports of a crash with injuries.

Upon their arrival, they observed a bus collided with an SUV with several children onboard the bus according to on the scene reports.

Our field crew counted just under a half dozen children taken off the bus by emergency crews then they were transported to Beth Israel Hospital where their conditions were reported as non-life threatening to minor at this time.

Residents told RLS Metro Breaking News that there are discrepancies on whether the SUV that was involved in the crash was moving or parked during the incident.

The name of the bus company is "King Buses Inc." out of Hackensack and we cannot confirm what schools the bus picked up from at this time.

Police are actively investigating.

NPD UPDATE 4:27 p.m. Six occupants on the bus suffered no injuries but headed to Beth Israel as protocol.
