DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Police Detain Two after Foot Pursuit of Suspects Occupying Fatal Carjacking Victim's Car

Police have detained two male suspects after a foot pursuit that took place a short time ago in Newark's Central Ward.

The incident reportedly originated near the intersection of South Orange Avenue and South 9th Street when police spotted a vehicle fitting the description of a vehicle belonging to an overnight fatal carjacking victim from South 20th Street.

Officers attempting to stop the car had three suspects speed away then bail from the vehicle at around 10:50 a.m.

Three suspects were taken into custody after police officers blanketed the area of Holland and 16th Avenue.

Two additional males remain at large.

We can not immediately confirm if these are the suspects wanted for Ms. Henry's homicide at this time.

UPDATE: 12:16pm A third suspect that occupied the vehicle is in custody at this time.

UPDATE 2:53pm . On Friday morning patrol officers from the Newark Police Department located the victim’s vehicle, a 2015 Kia Sorrento on 11th Avenue in Newark. Three males, two adults and one juvenile, were in the vehicle and have been detained by the police.
