DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Pedestrian Struck by Train in Newark

Expect some emergency responder presence at the Newark Penn Station this morning as authorities are on the scene of a pedestrian strike with a fatality being reported at this time.

The incident was reported at around 6:50 a.m. and sent police and EMS to the scene where they found the victim badly injured according to initial reports.

The victim was reportedly pronounced dead a short time later.

It is not immediately known if the victims was struck by a PATH, NJ Transit, or Amtrak Train.

At this time, there are no train service delays being reported at the station.

UPDATE 7:45 a.m. This is happening near the Lafayette Street railroad bridge.

UPDATE 7:50 a.m Trains arriving and departing at Penn Station are cautiously moving slow at Lafayette Street.

We will post any additional information regarding service delays if and/or when they come in.
