Firefighters are on the scene battling a raging fire that’s tearing through a large house in the city’s North Ward at this time.
According to fire officials, heavy fire engulfed a two and a half story wood-framed house located at Mount Prospect and 3rd Avenue at around 10:10 p.m. where flames quickly extended to the second floor of the structure.
Crews were able to do a preliminary search of the house that came back negative for trapped or injured occupants.
As of 10:25 p.m. officials have not placed the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
