The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle with fatal results in Newark.
Emergency responders were called to the area of Hudson and West Market streets for an injured person before 9:55 p.m.
Medical crews arrived to the scene to find the severely injured unconscious and unresponsive victim who they pronounced dead a short time later.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
There is an active investigation underway.
