DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Double Homicides Investigated by Authorities in Newark's South Ward

We are informing the community of a violent overnight in a section of the city that left two people dead in possible separate incidents according to authorities.

Details are still pending, but a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office have confirmed the accounts of homicide investigations for two shootings in the South Ward.

Here is what we have to share, sometime after midnight on Clinton Place, police responded to reports of a shooting with at least one person down at that location.

Responding units located the victim suffering injury from gunfire authorities said.

The victim was later pronounced dead by medics and we are not sure at this time if the victim ever made it to the hospital.

According to reports, the victim is being reported as a middle aged female.

One other person suffered some type of injury a that location and was transported to University Hospital in serious condition. We can not immediately confirm if this person (male) was shot.

According to a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, sometime at around the same time frame of the previous shooting, their office were called to an address on Keer Avenue for reports of a male victim fatally injured by apparent gunfire at that location.

The motive for both shootings are under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office as they work to determined who is responsible for these fatal shootings that are being investigated as homicides.
