There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway into a shooting that has two people wounded at this time in Newark’s South Ward.
Gunfire rang out in the 300 block of Schley Street at around 9:02 p.m. sending police to the scene where officers requested EMS on a rush after finding the victim struck by bullets.
Officers were alerted to the scene by a ShotSpotter activation that indicated multiple gunshots at that location.
Police found nearly a dozen shell casings when they searched the scene.
The extent of the victims’ injuries have not been disclosed.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
