Authorities from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a suspicious death of a baby that occurred at a residence in Newark's South Ward.
Emergency responders were called to the 200 block of Chadwick Avenue at around midnight after receiving reports of an injured person according to reports.
Crews arrived to find the baby, who was reported to be around 2-months-old, unconscious and unresponsive at that location.
The baby was later pronounced dead by medics authorities said.
A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office would only confirm the death and stated that incident is under investigation.
"The cause and manner of death will be determine by an autopsy" the spokesperson said.
