The State Regional Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death for a person found dead near Newark train tracks overnight.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders responded to the vicinity of the Meeker Avenue train overpass after receiving reports of a person struck by a train.
Crews arrived at the scene and found the unconscious and unresponsive male at that location.
Medics later pronounced the victim dead according to authorities.
Newark Police officials said the case had been handed over to the medical examiner to determine what officially caused the man's death but a preliminary investigation appears that he may have been struck by the train.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
