Roselle

By: Richard L. Smith

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a double murder in Roselle that happened Wednesday morning.

Sources close to the investigation told RLS Media that family members forced entry on the house located in the 200 block of West 7th Avenue after a 10-year-old girl did not show up for school.

Once inside the home, a search was conducted and a large amount of blood from a possible stabbing incident  was found in a bedroom.

Roselle Police arrived on the scene and issued this alert to the community:

“East 7th Avenue between Locust and Pine St is closed due to a police investigation. Due to this investigation, out of an abundance of caution, a request to shelter in place was relayed to all of the area schools to which they complied. The lockdown has now been lifted”. -Roselle Police Department

According to sources, the 45-year-old mother and her daughter were found dead inside the house.

Police found the woman’s car in Maryland and a potential suspect was detained sources said. The suspect is known to the victims and reportedly lived in the house.

We are awaiting information from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office on further details.

RLS Media has declined to release the names of the victims at this time.
