A Montclair woman that went missing over a week ago was found dead today according to sources close to the family of the woman.

After thanking our staff for assisting in search efforts, the source reported to RLS Metro Breaking News that **Sarah Butler, 20,** "was not with us any longer" shortly before 7 p.m.

Heavy police activity in the Eagle Rock Reservation up in West Orange had our staff contact a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office who confirmed that their investigator's were looking into an "incident" at the reservation but could not immediately confirm if the incident involved Butler or any missing person at that time.

The source would not confirm where Butler was found but stated "she was found today".

According police earlier in the week, 20-year-old Sarah Butler of Montclair was reported missing by her family on Tuesday November 22nd where police said she was last seen in Orange, NJ in a dark blue Dodge Caravan.

It is not clear if authorities ever located the vehicle Butler was occupying.

RELEASED AT 10:26 p.m. : Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti have announced that the body of a Montclair woman, who had previously been reported as missing, was found earlier today.

The spokesperson said at approximately 11:30 am, law enforcement officers located the remains while searching in an area of Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange, NJ.

The victim has been identified as Sarah Butler, age 20, of Montclair, NJ. Ms. Butler had been reported missing to the Montclair Police Department on November 23, 2016.

The exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy by the New Jersey Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly. The investigation into her death is being handled by the Homicide Task Force.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time, according to Fennelly.
