Essex County authorities are looking into circumstances surrounding a shooting that left a male victim dead in Newark's Central Ward this afternoon.
According to police, at approximately 1:30 p.m., gunfire ran out in the 60's block of Brenner Street, scrambling police officers to the scene.
When officers arrived, they found the victim fighting for his life after two masked and hooded gunmen pumped bullets into his body.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead a short time later.
According to police, the suspects ran from the scene and remain at-large.
