DEVELOPING KEARNY NJ: Man Dead in Two-Alarm House Fire in Kearny; Dogs Killed

A two-alarm fire that broke out inside of a house in Kearny this afternoon sent one person to the hospital and killed at least two dogs.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters rush to 422 Forest Street at around 11:55 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire inside of the house at that location.

Crews arrived at the scene and encountered smoke coming from the two-story house according to reports.

One person was airlifted to an area hospital suffering critical injuries while firefighters pulled the unconscious and unresponsive dogs from home.

The dogs were pronounced dead at the scene reports said.

Firefighters swiftly knocked down the small blaze to conduct their investigation.

The cause is unknown.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m. The victim died from his injuries.
