DEVELOPING IRVINGTON TOWNSHIP NJ: Fatal Pedestrian Strike Under Investigation in Irvington

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed an investigation into a pedestrian strike that left one person dead in Irvington Township Wednesday morning.

There are few details available but according to a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office, it happened at around 6:10 a.m. just outside of Irvington Park on the Lyons Avenue side -600 block- where emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a collision at that location.

Crews arrived and found a severely injured victim who was ultimately pronounced dead a short time later according to the prosecutor’s office.

Our staff on the scene observed items that apparently belong to a female but The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office could not immediately confirm the gender of the victim.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

There were no other injuries reported
