DEVELOPING IRVINGTON NJ: Pursuit of Carjacking Suspect Ends in Parkway Crash, Arrest

A pursuit of a suspect wanted for a carjacking investigation had police in Irvington actively engaged this afternoon.

According to Irvington Police officials, detectives spotted a felony vehicle used in a carjacking over the weekend when they attempted to stop the car at a location in the Township shortly before 4 p.m.

The vehicle reportedly sped away with officers following the car onto the Garden State Parkway's southbound lanes.

According to officials, the fleeing vehicle was involved in a crash near exit 137 in Cranford where the suspect continued to speed away.

Irvington Police discontinued the pursuit, but officers from Clark picked up the chase and apprehended the suspect near Lower Road in Linden.

There were no injuries reported.

The investigation will continue Irvington officials said.
