DEVELOPING HARRISON NJ: Fatal Train Strike Causes Gridlock Traffic Conditions in Harrison

If you are traveling on Frank E. Rogers Boulevard near the Path Station, pack your patience as commuters heading home from work are experiencing gridlock traffic conditions due to a train strike that killed a person this evening.

Details regarding the circumstances behind the incident are pending a public information request from Amtrak officials, but according to preliminary reports, at around 5:55 p.m., police were called to the station after receiving reports of a person who ventured onto the tracks.

When officers arrived, they found the person dead after reportedly being struck by a train at that location.

Harrison Police closed Frank E. Roger Boulevard

-towards Newark-at the Westin Hotel where heavy traffic conditions we're experienced on surrounding First and Second streets.

Path Officials confirmed with RLS Media’s evening crew that there are NO operational impact to PATH.

The incident is under investigation at this time.

**UPDATE 7:52PM:** Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 94 struck an individual at approximately 5:07 pm in Newark. All train travel was stopped through the area until approximately 5:52 pm.

Passengers on train 94 are being transferred to another train.

Passengers on the Northeast Corridor can expect residual delays throughout the evening.

The Amtrak Police Department is investigating.
