DEVELOPING: Gunman Fires Nearly a Dozen Shots on Seymour Avenue in Newark

Police have a street in Newark’s South Ward taped off as officers canvas the scene for victims after gunfire rang out in the area this afternoon. 

According to police, in the second shooting on Seymour Avenue in just over 24-hours, a gunman fired shots near Clinton Aneurn around 2:45 p.m. 

Officers arrived and found about nine shell casings at that location. 

Police say several units checked the scene for victims, but no injuries were immediately reported. 

Officials have placed area hospitals on notice for potential walk-in gunshot victims. 

The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been reported at this time.
