The Union County Prosecutor's Office was notified of a double shooting with one of the victims suffering fatal injuries in Elizabeth Sunday morning.
A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 2:57 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 225 North Broad Street near the train station.
Several Elizabeth Police officers arrived and taped off the area after locating shell casings and two wounded victims at that location.
According to the investigation, one of the victims was administered CPR at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other injured individual was treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital for treatment.
The motive for the shooting has not been released in this active and ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been reported at this time.
