A tragic crash occurred on a NJ highway early Sunday, leading to fatal injuries and road closures.
New Jersey State Police responded to the scene around 4:07 a.m. in the northbound lanes near exit 154 in Clifton following reports of a serious crash.
Initial reports indicated that the incident, which occurred under the Colfax Avenue bridge, involved a collision between two vehicles.
Upon their arrival, State Troopers discovered one person deceased in a car, having sustained severe injuries.
In addition, at least one other individual was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash resulted in the temporary closure of part of the highway as police conducted an active and ongoing investigation.
The identities of those involved have not been released as the investigation continues.
