According to initial reports from the scene, the deadly blaze broke out around 9:45 p.m. inside a residence located at 15 Emerson Avenue.

Multiple 911 calls were received reporting heavy fire and people trapped inside.

When firefighters arrived, they found the two-story home engulfed in flames, with fire spreading rapidly across both floors.

Crews immediately stretched multiple hose lines to attack the blaze and made desperate attempts to reach those trapped inside.

After gaining control of the inferno, that was fed by strong winds,  firefighters discovered five individuals were located inside: a 39-year-old male. a 38-year-old female, and 3 minor children aged 14 years, 12 years and 7 years.

The victims
were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two firefighters were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

NBC 4 New York confirmed the victims’ deaths late Friday night.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have started in the rear section of the home, possibly beneath the structure, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the blaze.

Additional details, including the identities of the victims, have not yet been released.
