The deep freeze continues across the region this morning, with a cold weather advisory remaining in effect until at least noon as we start the new week.
Good morning and welcome to Monday. It’s 13 degrees in Newark, and if you’re waiting at the bus stop, it feels closer to -2 degrees, so all layers are still needed.
While conditions are not as harsh as Sunday, winds are gradually dying down.
By around 11 a.m., temperatures will inch upward slightly, but not enough to shed the winter gear.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 30 degrees. Wind chill values will range between zero and 10, with a northwest wind around 7 mph.
Tonight will turn mostly cloudy with lows around 16 degrees.
Winds will be light, becoming calm later in the evening.
Overall, it remains bitterly cold, and we’re still dealing with lingering snow left behind from storms over the past couple of weeks.
