A second person has died from injuries sustained in an early morning bus crash involving two New Jersey Transit buses.
Emergency responders were called to the scene of a crash involving two buses at the intersection of Raymond Boulevard and Broad Street sometime before 6 a.m.
According to authorities, a New Jersey Transit 59 Line bus - occupied only by the driver - was just starting it’s route when it slammed into a 13 Line bus.
The driver of the 59 Line bus Joseph Barthelus who drove the bus for NJ Transit for 27 years, was killed, according to officials.
On the 13 Line bus, there were a total of 18 occupants, which consisted of 17 passengers and driver. Of those injured, seven were said to be in critical condition.
The incident remains under investigation at this time but based on preliminary investigations police are trying to determine if the 59 Line bus ran the red light at the intersection.
