The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office detectives are investigating a shooting that fatally injured a person in Neptune Township Monday afternoon.
Just before 2:30 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired near 350 Drummond Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering a bullet wound in his head at that location.
Emergency responders administered CPR on the injured before medical professionals pronounced him dead a short time later.
The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office k-9 units assisted in the search for the suspect, but no arrests have been rpeorted.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
